LITTLE FERRY RIVERFRONT RESILIENCE PARK -
REBUILD BY DESIGN MEADOWLANDS

NEW JERSEY MEADOWLANDS, NJ
Riverside Resilience Microsite3.png

Riverfront Park emerged as a resilient waterfront open space improvement project through the Rebuild by Design - Meadowlands program.  Riverfront Park will support the climate resilience goals of the RBD Meadowlands program through the integration of landscape infrastructure strategies into a new waterfront open space.  Green infrastructure strategies are integrated throughout the new park’s design, and will offset impervious surfaces in the project area and absorb rainfall.

Riverfront Park creates a new opportunity for Little Ferry residents to access their riverfront along the Hackensack River.  Access to the waterfront is extend via an accessible kayak launch, universally accessible pathways and seating areas throughout the park. Shoreline improvements are designed to improve upland, intertidal and subtidal habitat zones while also increasing shoreline resilience to tidal fluctuations into the future.  A living shoreline provides varied habitat types including intertidal marsh, high marsh and maritime shrub plant communities.
