HOBOKEN MONROE
RESILIENCE PARK
HOBOKEN, NJ

800 Monroe Resiliency Park will provide residents with public open space and mitigate area flooding caused by heavy rainfall events. The park will bolster the City's resiliency efforts, becoming the City's fourth resiliency park following the Northwest Resiliency Park, 7th & Jackson Resiliency Park, and Southwest Resiliency Park that together will detain over 3 million gallons of stormwater once construction is completed.

Park programing and design direction was developed in through extensive community engagement. Community members voiced a desire to maximize access to both active and passive park programming within the parks relatively small footprint. Tennis courts and access to outdoor fitness opportunities respond to specific community requests for active uses. These active spaces are surrounded by flexible, shaded green areas that provide opportunities for more passive enjoyment of the park.

The park will be constructed over the top of a subsurface stormwater collection and storage system that will collect, delay, and store rainfall that falls in the surrounding area. A system of HDPE stormwater storage pipes are used to maximize stormwater storage potential underneath of the park while also minimizing impacts to a pre-existing environmental cap below the park site.
